This was a management position that later turned into a consultant position. Some of the responsibilities included:
Health & Safety program (meet H&S/customer requirements, initiate machinery preventative maintenance, etc.)
Initiated reorder systems (kanban cards on items like brass fittings)
Mapped material & information flow
Developed work instructions for proprietary remanufacturing and complex processes (internal/external splines, spiders, gap sub setups, tool eye change)
Recruiting – set up a new recruiting process & consistently increased monthly applications from April – Aug 2014
Setup Reduction
Identified only operating between 25-56% of available time, opportunity to recover 44-75% availability/downtime, set goal to achieve 50% running time.
Initiated 5S to reduce search time (for tools, jaws, jigs) and support shorter changeovers
Managed initial stages of CNC machinery integration to facilitate program access through enterprise software to improve document integrity and reduce setup times / increase capacity by reducing download/upload time & establishing a central location to pull programs from
Initial analysis identifies 38-42% setup reduction available on first pass, which would increase capacity improving on time delivery
Level Operations
Current state:
no scheduling present, cannot determine job status; cannot obtain tooling externally to reduce setup time/increase capacity; operators interrupting foreman to find out next job
Counter measure: Heijunka (Levelling)
